Welcome to Indianola Children’s Center (ICC), located in the heart of The Ohio State University area. As a year-round early childhood center, ICC believes children’s play is their work. The role of the early childhood educators is to guide and enhance that play. ICC strives to meet the highest standards for the early childhood profession.  Indianola Children’s Center participates in Ohio’s Step Up To Quality (SUTQ), the tiered quality rating and improvement system.

As a non-religious mission of the Indianola Presbyterian Church (IPC) where we are housed,  ICC follows peaceful conflict resolution communication to practice tasks such as sharing, problem-solving or waiting. Children and adults alike practice age-appropriate peaceful communication methods.

ICC children go outdoors in all weather. The children love that they are allowed to get muddy and dirty by playing in our small “river” with water from our raintank which collects 550 gallons of  rain water.  ICC earned the Ohio Environmental Educational Fund (OEEF) Outstanding Project 2012 for our Rain Garden for Young Children. In 2014, ICC achieved the Arbor Day/Dimensions Foundation certification as a Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom and continues to maintain this designation.  ICC is the first Nature Explore Certified Classroom in Central Ohio.
