The Indianola Children's Center classroom are designed to help children explore and integrate a variety of play experiences. All of the programs offer spaces for sensory play, block building and construction play, dress-up and dramatic play, sorting, counting, and design work, book reading and other literacy work, quiet alone time, and more. In addition, all of the programs may use the downstairs Youth Room area during the fall, winter and spring for indoor movement games and active play.

The Center observes the following teacher/child ratios.  Small group sizes are maintained for each age group.

Small Group Sizes

   18 month to 30 months - 1 teacher to 7 children

   30 months to 36 months - 1 teacher to 8 children

   3 years to 4 years - 1 teacher to 12 children

   4 years to Kindergarten - 1 teacher to 14 children

   Kindergarten to 11 years old - 1 teacher to 18 children (summer school age program)  

Large Group Sizes

   18 month to 36 months - 2 teachers to 11 children

   3 to 4 year olds - 2 teachers to 24 children

   3 years to 4 years - 1 teacher to 12 children

   4 years to kindergarten - 2 teachers to 28 children
